Description
The Opéra de Montréal: A Remarkable Turnaround: Abstract
With his organization facing a major crisis, Pierre Dufour, general director of the Opéra de Montréal and the main protagonist in the case, wonders what the future holds for the institution. He is considering several possible scenarios, including pursuing the Opéra’s activities, merging with another cultural organization or even closing the doors of the institution. He must also make decisions on future managerial and artistic orientations that are consistent with the objective of rescuing the organization. Through his reflections on these issues, students are encouraged to propose solutions for the strategic choices and strategic development approaches that the Opéra de Montréal should adopt to deal with its situation. The decisions made by Pierre Dufour also offer an opportunity for students to discover a leadership style in the context of a major organizational turnaround.
