Description

Promotions at Work: Employee Gratitude when Climbing the Corporate Ladder: Abstract

A determined and ambitious employee, Jeff was recently promoted to a managerial position within the production unit of a large agribusiness company. For the past 15 years, he has been a quality controller working on projects with the same division team and has maintained amicable relationships with all his colleagues. Nonetheless, since his promotion, Jeff has been feeling that he lacks influence within his new working environment. His superiors tend to only focus on his corporate faults and his subordinates do not adequately support him. As a result, Jeff has started to lay down new rules for his team that appear to be more rigid. He has consciously begun to isolate members of his team and has been withholding important work-related information from the group.
