The Stratford Festival of Canada is one of English-speaking Canada’s most renowned cultural institutions. Founded in 1953 by the visionary Tom Patterson, the festival is dedicated to the plays of William Shakespeare. With its 1,000 employees, its budget of over $50 million, its six-month season and its record of attracting more than 500,000 annual visitors from all over the world to Stratford, Ontario, the Stratford Festival defines the concept of a “festival.”
