Description

Jessica’s Dilemma: An Offer to Receive “Under the Table” Compensation: Abstract

The case is set in mid-July 1998. Like most college students, Jessica wants to improve and build on her financial position for the upcoming year, so she is looking for a summer job where she can make money while working in a positive environment. Faced with the possibility of being paid “under the table,” Jessica does not want to jeopardize her employment at Precise Analysis, but she does not know how to approach the issue regarding the taxation of her future employment at the company. Also, she does not know whether her employment contract with the temporary agency requires her to report future employment.

This is a case based on personal experience and presented from the perspective of the student involved.
