Description
Psychological and Sexual Harassment: A Thorn in the Greenhouse of a Thousand Blooms: Abstract
Based on real-life accounts, this case tells the story of Fatoumata, who got a part-time job at the Greenhouse of a Thousand Blooms after graduating with a degree in agronomy. Fatoumata quickly established a friendly working relationship with Felix, her supervisor and the cousin of Pascale Montpetit, the business’s owner and general manager, but their relationship soon soured.
The case describes the tumultuous working relationship between the two colleagues, which was marked by psychological and sexual harassment, unwelcome physical contact, comments about Fatoumata’s appearance, and her need to take sick leave to distance herself from her toxic working environment. The case ends with Fatoumata’s decision to file a complaint with the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST).
