How to draft a Sectoral Note is a guide created by Denis Grégoire, Jean-Pierre Béchard and Louis Jacques Filion.

This document is intended as a guide for student-entrepreneurs working on sector-based notes, and its primary goal is to enable them to position their own entrepreneurial projects within the sector studied. It begins by presenting a number of analysis tools and explains how they can be used within the more specific framework of entrepreneurial project development. The next section addresses the information collection process. In view of the special challenge facing entrepreneurs wishing to launch businesses in relatively unstructured sectors, the document proposes a “field” approach and gives practical advice on data collection interviews. It also reviews various sources of factual information. The final section discusses the actual writing of the note and presents a generic model of the note’s component elements.
