Description

An Phuoc: Can Its Business Be Rescued from the Asian Financial Crisis?: Abstract

Part A, set in 1997 at the outbreak of the Asian financial crisis, is designed to teach students the concept of effectuation entrepreneurship and how to evaluate business opportunities. This crisis forced the company to identify survival strategies. Part B, set in early 2008 at the outbreak of the global financial crisis, teaches students how to analyze business concepts and evaluate business models using the New Venture Template. The global crisis led to the need for a strategic shift in the firm’s development. It is important to note that although they are based on the same company, these two cases provide different platforms for teaching different theories, have different pedagogical objectives, require different decisions and cover different periods of the business as well as different situations in the textile industry and Vietnam’s business environment. If instructors want to use both cases, Part A should be used first.
