Description

Audrey Cyr: Difficulty in a New Work Environment: Abstract

Audrey Cyr: Difficulty in a New Work Environment is a case study by Marie-Christine Albert and Carol Bélanger.

This case offers Audrey Cyr’s testimony about her work experience as an intermediate clerk within the surgical unit of a hospital. Having previously worked in the private sector, she found it difficult to get used to this new environment, in which she was confronted with dubious hiring practices, conflict with a superior, bureaucratic and boring work, a distinct culture, judgments based on status and nationality as well as poor working climate. Two years later, after much reflection, she decided to leave the hospital for a job that offered her more autonomy.
