Description
A Mining Case Study: What Went Wrong and What Should Have Happened?: Abstract
A Mining Case Study: What Went Wrong and What Should Have Happened? is a case study by Stephanie Townsend and Trevor Lake.
The year 2011 had been a difficult one for Jack Smith, group organisational development manager of a South African mining contracting group. After three years of continuous challenges at a platinum mine in the greater Tubatse municipality in Burgersfort in eastern Limpopo province, the project remained a financial disaster. He realised that he needed to take action as a matter of urgency. However, due to financial constraints, his overriding concern was how to turn the project around and restore the group’s tainted reputation.
