A Daily Art in the Details: Highlighting the Role of Caregivers in Nursing Homes: Abstract
A Daily Art in the Details: Highlighting the Role of Caregivers in Nursing Homes was created by François Aubry, Baptiste Brossard, Flavie Lemay and Salgood Sam. This is a series of fifteen comic strips that illustrate several aspects of the work of caregivers and the skills they develop on a daily basis.
Caregivers are recognized as vulnerable workers in integrated (academic or non-academic) health and social service centres. They regularly suffer from negative prejudices, whether societal or organizational. For this reason, a cross-sectoral team of university researchers and collaborators (including eight caregivers) at the Nord-de-l’Île-de-Montréal integrated university health and social services center (CIUSSS-NIM) came together to illustrate the hard and essential work of caregivers in long-term care centres (CHSLDs).
These posters are addressed to the caregivers themselves, but also to their colleagues and managers, as well as to the teachers who train future caregivers.
Objectives
To expose, through comic strips, the work of caregivers that work with residents in long-term care centres (CHSLDs).
Target audience
Caregivers in nursing homes, their colleagues and managers, teachers who train future caregivers.
