Scott Kaplanis

Mr. Kaplanis has nearly 15 years of Canadian capital markets experience and is currently a partner at Epic Capital Management Inc., a Toronto-based venture capital firm focused on investing in growing Canadian medical technology and digital health companies. Epic was the first venture fund in Canada dedicated to health technology and it has invested in 26 companies across two funds, catalyzed more than $200 million into the sector and helped create more than 400 new jobs since 2014. He currently sits on two corporate boards, both emerging software companies. He is also an advisor to The Funding Portal, which specializes in simplifying how Canadian companies source and secure government grants and incentives. Prior to joining Epic, Mr. Kaplanis worked as Vice President, Research at Macquarie Capital Markets Canada, a division of the global investment bank (2003-2008). At Macquarie, he built a profitable franchise by covering companies in a variety of industries including information technology, manufacturing, infrastructure, energy services, transportation and clean technology. Mr. Kaplanis holds an HBA degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business and is a CFA Charterholder. He is also a registered as an Advising Representative and Dealing Representative with the OSC. Mr. Kaplanis is an active entrepreneur as he is currently incubating two businesses. He has also participated on committees in association with the Ontario government in exploring regional clustering and social impact investing.
