Geneviève A. Bonin-Labelle

Geneviève A. Bonin is an associate professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Ottawa. Her recent SSHRC funded research projects include: The Future of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Broadcasting: Conversation & Convergence; Mapping the professional orientations and worldviews of Canadian journalists and Evaluating the impact of technology and funding on community radio in Canada. She is interested in the conception of evaluation tools and their use in various organizations, particularly not-for-profits (NFPs). Studies on governance, funding and innovation in NFPs, journalistic practices in the information age, as well as the implication of minority groups in media are also part of her research program. Before becoming a professor, Geneviève spent several years working in the radio industry both in front and behind of the mic, as well as in human resources, in education and in tourism. She is often asked to comment on media policy, journalism issues and curriculum design and changes.
